Welcome to the in-progress page for NBA 2K13 for PC crash fix solutions. Without a doubt, NBA 2K13 is as good as its 2K12 predecessor, except it does top last year’s release with an NBA dream team match! What’s really bad about it though is the number of crashes that PC gamers have to endure just to get it up and running. To help you get past that, I’ve compiled a list of crash fix solutions for NBA 2K13. Read on!

As always, first things first! Make sure your PC meets the system requirements. If you’ve played 2K12 and 2K11 then most likely you can run 2K13 as the developers announced via Twitter that this year’s release will use the previous year’s spec requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:

• CPU: Pentium 4 2.4 Ghz Single Core processor or equivalent (2.8 Ghz for Vista)
• RAM: 512 MB or more (1 GB for Vista)
• Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
• Hard Drive: 10.5 GB or more free space
• Video: DirectX 9.0c compatible (see below)
• Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
• Input: Keyboard or dual-analog gamepad
• Video card with 128 MB or more memory and one of the following chipsets is required:
• ATI x1300 or greater;
• NVIDIA 6600 or greater;
• DirectX 9.0c compatible card with Shader Model 3.0 support.

Important Note: Game requires Internet connection for activation

Recommended System Requirements:

• CPU: 3 GHz Dual Core processor or equivalent
• RAM: 2 GB
• Disc Drive: 8x or faster DVD drive
• Hard Drive: 10.5 GB or more free space
• Video: Shader Model 3.0 support with 512 Ram (Nvidia(R) Geforce(R) 7900 GT or better)
• Sound: 100% DirectX 9.0c compatible sound card
• Input: Dual-analog gamepad
• DirectX 11

Fixing NBA 2K13 Crashes, Errors, Freezes, Poor Performance

Problem #1 NBA 2K13 Crash Fix – NBA 2K13 Crashes, Black screen, and Freezes

It’s common to solve NBA 2K crashes with these steps:

1. Make sure your PC meets the minimum system requirements.
2. Make sure your graphics drivers are the latest version.
3. You might be overworking your graphics cards, so try lowering all graphics settings, especially disable anti-aliasing and filtering.
4. Turn-off your antivirus software while playing.
5. Make sure you check our list for general fixes, more often than not running through that checklist will help you fix most crash issues.
6. Run through the other NBA 2K13-specific fixes below.

Problem #2 NBA 2K13 Tweak – How to Configure your Virtual Memory in Windows XP

NBA 2K13 may require additional virtual memory for it to run properly, similar to NBA 2K11. Usually in NBA 2K games, if your virtual memory is not configured properly it will lead to crashing, freezing, and some performance issues.

For Windows XP

• Go to Settings/Control Panel > System > Advanced Tab > Performance/Settings > Advanced tab > Virtual memory/Change.
• Select the drive where NBA 2K13 is installed.
• Choose the ‘System managed size’ radio button in the ‘Paging file size for selected drive’.
• Click Set, then OK until done.

For Windows 7 / Vista

Go to Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System > Advanced System Settings > Performance > Advanced tab > Virtual memory.
Check ‘Automatically manage paging file size for all drives’
Click OK until done.

Problem #3 NBA 2K13 Connection Fix – Problem connecting to game lobby

This is commonly regarded as a router issue. It means your router may be configured too securely for casual games such as NBA 2K13. To fix this, you may have to set your router to DMZ mode. Problem #4 NBA 2K13 Graphics Bug – NBA 2K13 Screen cut / not aligned

If your screen is cut or not aligned, meaning you cannot view the game properly in fullscreen, try the following:

• Disable dual display (either toggle it in display options or plug out your second monitor)
• Set your native desktop resolution as the default resolution for the game.

If you are using Xbox 360, delete the NBA 2K13 settings file under ‘System Settings/Memory/Games/NBA 2K13?. The game will then create a new settings file for you which will automatically resolve the issue. This method should work on the PS3 as well.

Problem #5 NBA 2K13 Cannot start installer or  ’Error: Installation Failed’

Modern NBA 2K games require an Internet connection for it to install properly, so make sure your connection is stable. Also, turn off any programs running in the background, and also turn off your anti-virus program/s. If the installer hangs, restart your PC and try installing again. So far it’s the only way to go about that.

Problem #6 NBA 2K13 Poor graphics performance

Again, make sure you quickly run through our general fixes list. Try lowering all graphics settings, and turn off anti-aliasing and filtering. Update your graphic drivers and DirectX to the current version, and restart your PC.

Problem #7 NBA 2K13 Crash Fix – NBA 2K13 Crashes and Won’t start or get past the logo

Make sure your video card supports Shader Model 3.0. To verify this, check the following links:

Problem #8 NBA 2K13 Sound Fix – No sound or weak sound

For Windows 7 and Vista users:

First of all, update your sound card drivers. If doing that doesn’t clear up the problem, make sure you have volume set to max for NBA 2K13 in the volume mixer (click on the little speaker icon in the bottom-right of your screen in the system tray). If you’re in-game, just alt+tab out of the game and check if NBA2K13 is set to max in the volume mixer.

Another tip you could try is to go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Communications Tab then select the ‘Do Nothing’ radio button to permanently fix this issue.

For Windows XP users:

Reduce audio hardware acceleration. Also try setting your speakers to stereo.

Problem #9 NBA 2K13 AMD Dual Core Timing Issue

Legacy machines running AMD dual core processors will experience problems running NBA 2K13. To fix this, go to the AMD website and download and install the latest processor drivers. Make sure you verify first if the drivers are compatible or will work for your system. Do not try this if you are not an AMD dual core processor user.
