The client gives an error after downloading the last piece of a game file, then, upon clicking Repair, it starts downloading the file again from the first part. After this, the error repeats, and the client enters an infinite loop of downloads and repairs…
Hi Pseudolo, trying shutting of all anti-virus software, including Windows Defender then try again. Also try setting your router in DMZ mode to enable ports to freely travel between your PC and the download server.
Hi,
I was hoping someone could help me. I have downloaded the SWTOR game five times now and once it finished installing main assets, it comes up with an unknown ‘error’ and asks to repair. I click repair and it starts again.
I have my antivirus settings off, firewall is down for install, I have not taken part in the beta so no files are there from that and I am running the SWTOR_setup.exe as administrator and still no joy. Last time, it stuck on 13% installation.
I am trying to run it on a Windows 7 PC, 64 bit and am getting a little concerned that I am about to pay ยฃ45 for a game I can’t play!
any help here would be great
Mark
Since the BETA I’ve had the same issue.
I log in, and all I see is a black screen.
I’ve updated my drivers, I’ve even managed to (random-click) my way to the actual gameplay. And no, still no picture, everything is still black.
Windows 7 (64-bit)
AMD Phenom II x4 b55 Processor
ATI Radeon HD 5770
4GB RAM
DirectX 11
Have you tried forcing windowed mode? That’s one of your better bets to get SWTOR up and running on the onset.
Hi.
Since i really want to play this game, i’ve tried alot.
first of all, i installed the game, succesfully, registered succesfully and subscribed succesfully. Then i opened the launcher, typed in my account information, it enters the game, loading screen seems perfectly clear, but the second it goes to character creation section, the whole screen turns completely black, tho i can still see the UI.. i thought it might be something wrong with the character creating process, but same stuff happens when im actually ingame.. Still i can see the UI clearly, and on the map, the arrow that represents your character moves fine acording to where im pointing it. – Then i thought my ATI might not be good enough, (even tho it runs World Of Warcraft pretty good) – so i set ALL the grafics to low or even off, set it to windowed mode etc, still black, and sometimes it even goes into a bright white colour.. A friend of mine told me to run the “Repair” option in the launcher, and when i do that, it tells me that i have to finish updating Patch. okay, that’s the problem then, so i go to http://www.Swtor.com and login. trying to find any info on the patches.. only problem is, it’s only notes, telling me what the specific patch changed ingame.. But i can’t “complete” the install cuz of the missing link or whatever.. please help me?
I also have the black screen upon starting up the game, and as of yet have not had anything work. I did attempt to start the game up in windowed mode; however, that also did not work for me : (
I have an ATI 5800 series card as well, and have a hankering that it is an issue with that entire series of graphic cards. Any help of course would be excellent!
Alright I found a fix for the black screen! When you use the auto update for the 5800 series ATI drivers it looks like it isn’t actaully updating the driver to the most current version (for whatever strange reason). When I went back and manually selected the driver from the website it downloaded a newer version and got the game up and running! Hope that helps!
Great find Nate, that’s sure to help others too.
ATI update servers must be bugging out.
Hey I have downloaded, can launch, can select character now.
The loading bar into the game, it will get to 50% and stop – indefinitely now sometimes I can even hear game sounds and if I touch the arrow keys I can hear footsteps.
This only happens some of the time but it’s becoming more frequent.
Helps!

Well, I am running this game on my laptop in the lowest settings possible and in windowed mode at 1024×800 or whatever it is. The graphics are very choppy and most of the time, I cannot see the background but I can see the mini-map and all other UI crap. Any suggestions? Also, I went to http://sites.amd.com/us/game/technology/Pages/system-requirements.aspx and passed it. Running as admin, disabled all firewalls, yeah… FML.
Oh yes, and as of right now, I am reinstalling my graphics driver. Trying the “Roll Back” method as well. If this doesn’t work, game goes on E-bay!
Sorry to triple post but I am uninstalling and reinstalling the game… AGAIN:
Intel HD Graphics
500 GB HDD (Only 30 GB used)
i3 Processor
4 GB RAM
And when I said choppy before, I mean, the images, usually seem like an image of a wall or the ground, just take over the whole screen except for the UI. Hope you can figure this out. It doesn’t do it on my desktop but the desktop does not play it very well at all. (Cannot move anywhere because of the usage)
That’s really odd, if you say your system meets all the requirements. Did you try the following:
1. Turn off all other background applications (java, system cleaners, running anti-virus)
2. Ensure your PC is not overheating (has proper ventilation)
If you could, post the processes running in your taskmanager so the community can check it out and help diagnose what’s the problem.
Turn off Vsync in grapic card settings i have the same graphic card and had the same problem this fixwd it for me

I am having a problem that is kind of strange. After I install the game ( I have an alienware laptop ) and play it works fine. Once I have to power down the laptop or restart the power cord freezes the system to where it won’t load windows (freezes after windows logo), If i start the cpu without power cord it will freeze the instant I plug it in. Once I run system restore and uninstall the game the powercord works fine…any thoughts ?
I’m having a problem I installed and registered the game successfully when I open the game I put my user and password the loading screen appears and then the game closes, no error window, no notification, I’m using a macbook pro with windows 7 64 bit installed in boot camp, I also installed it in a toshiba laptop with similar specifications (i3 processor, 4gb ram, etc.) and I have the same problem in both computers.
Same problem on a custom PC (specs are all fine. I too have 4 gig ram and am using 64 bit windows 7 if that helps.
Same problem here with a custom PC too. i cant play

I was hoping someone could help me with my problem. I have looked everywhere and cannot find a solution. I have the game all downloaded (have already tried re downloading) and when I hit the play button and it goes to the very first picture screen of like the jedi bounty hunter solider and then Malgus and in the background it freezes with the little gear in the corner not spinning and in order to get out of the program I have to completely shut the computer of because nothing else works to shut it down. If someone can please help I have tried everything I know and more and have not found the solution.
Im having the same problem
Same here! I’ve tried everything and it keeps freezing on the loading screen of like the jedi bounty hunter solider and then Malgus………Someone please help us!
FPS is good when it isn’t happening, game plays smoothly and is not crashing. But about once every 45 seconds, no matter what I am doing it freezes up and the game seems to stop using any resources on my laptop at all, then recovers and plays fine until it happens again.
It even happens on the character select screen. Have tried reducing all settings to low as well as turning vsync on and turning off shadows.
Here you can see what happens to my pc:

So this is my issue. I start up the game and while loading it will randomly shoot me back to the desktop. Game is still running, music still plays, then it jumps back to the game for a few seconds then back to the desktop and so on and so forth.
hello i recently downloaded the game and the game lauches then it says swtor has encounter a prob and must close when its at the loading screen any help please?
Hi, I am having trouble installing the game. For some reason it keeps repeatedly downloading “English assets 1″ is there any solution for this?

Hi,
I have a problem with my password: in fact, I played 3 weeks at stwor, but since yesterday, when I enter my password, they tell me it’s not the good.
I tried to change it, but this time it’s my secret question which raise problem: they tell me it’s not the good again !!!
Impossible to join someone by phone … Does someone have any answer to my problem please?
I am having the issue of when I log into the game, I will be able to see things, though if I am creating a character and get close up, some of it just goes one color and can not see anything in the background. (Can still see character) Then when I enter the game itself, its all choppy and is usually one color.
Here is a video of what is going on to help better explain what I am trying to say.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrVU9O558wY
Ok, i open up the launcher and it just says server is not responding or login is currently unavailable.
I can’t even get past the loader, really wierd.
I have a 4g ram, TB harddrive, 440gt Geforce graphics card
I have ran it at administator.
I have closed all of my security.
Updated all my drivers.
Tried it in all combatibility modes.
I have tried reinstalling it loads of times.
I have clicked the fix button in the main directory.
Deleted appdata containing any star wars.
Changed the proxy server to Automatically detect setting
Restarted my modem and my computer
I even downloaded a program to try and bypass the forwarding ports for my rooter. Can’t forward ports because I am not the internet provider.
If you could give me any clues in what I can do, would be awesome.
My issue is that the game runs smoothly initially (with all settings set to lowest), but after 20 mins or so, it gets choppy. Still playable, but annoying.
Windows 7 laptop
Intel HD graphics
4GB RAM
Intel i3 Core Processor
I also tried closing unnecessary applications, but to no avail. Clearly if the game starts smooth, my computer can run it smoothly. Any ideas?
It’s your GPU. It is very low spec and its integrated so it wont work well with the game
Thanks for the answer. Would adding more RAM help, seeing as it’s integrated?
I just got a new motherboard for my computer to fix certain issues my machine was having before. The issues seemed to be solved, but now whenever I try to play TOR, once the game is loaded, it completely freezes up and I have to manually reset it.
One thing I may suspect it may be is, I was supposed to have two 2Gig RAM sticks, but because the guy who repaired it was out of them, instead I am using a single mediocre 4gig RAM. I will get the better 2Gig RAM sticks later, but do you think that might be the main issue?
I Had the same problems with the black screen! I solved it with pushing (Alt Enter)… everything works
Been plagued with an issue where I hit the “play” button and all I get is a few tiny movements of the blue cog and the Jedi/malgus/satele loading screen before it all disappears leaving me to stare at my desktop
I have tried several fixes from above none have worked so far, does anyone have any fix for this.
Comp specs are:
Windows 7 (updated to the max)
Intel i7 960 @3.2GHZ
AMD Radeon HD 6970 GPU
12GB RAM
2x2TB HDDS in Raid 1
Thermaltake Litepower 700W
Please HALP!!!!!
I’ve been playing fine for about 6 weeks now but today I have crashed to desktop 3 times with no error.
The first time I was fighting but the second and third time I was not.
The game kept crashing and going to a black screen. After 2-3 crashes, the launcher stopped loading and I could no longer load the game. I tried to repair the launcher, which did not work. I performed multiple restarts, which did not work, ensured all drivers, and windows updates were up to date, which did not work. I am reinstalling, hoping that this was a fluke, and will not reoccur.
I played in the beta and never had any crashes or problems.
2.8 ghz intel core duo
4 gig ram
1 TB HD
Gforce 550 TI
Windows 7 64
This game just simply refuses to run for me today. Yesterday it ran fine. Today, it got me to the character selection screen (although sometimes it just froze mid-loading). During the char selection, all the graphic got messed up like artifacting. Made sure m GPU is not overheating.
As soon as I selected a character and load the game, it just froze the whole computer midway through loading and i have to hard reset the computer.
i7-920
GTX 580
12GB RAM
I do not have any problems playing other games, even those who are more demanding, and no artifacting either.
Will reinstall I guess and see if it will be better.
Hello I am having a strange issue and was wondering if anyone could help me. While I am playing the game it will occasionally freeze mid-gameplay then go to the loading screen and then will come back to the game. It’s quite annoying and if I am in the middle of something I am completely defenseless. If anyone know please help me out.
