  1. Update your nVidia / ATI graphics drivers. Check our Technical References page for proper and official download links.
  2. Turn off SLI / Crossfire then start the game. See if it stabilizes F1 2012 performance.
  3. Turn off your anti-virus software before launching the F1 2012, but make sure you turn it back on after playing. Make sure Windows Defender is also disabled.
  4. Try using only one GPU first (turn the other one off via your nVidia / ATI graphics control panel)
  5. Try running the game in Windowed Mode (frequently works for low-end PCs)
  6. Disable anti-aliasing and filtering, restart F1 2012
  7. Disable V-sync, restart F1 2012
  8. Disable background apps, and turn off your anti-virus software

  10. Run through our list of general fixes, which will most likely resolve your F1 2012 crash problems

Problem #2 F1 2012 PC FPS Fix – Frame Skips, Low FPS, Lag

One of the reasons for poor FPS performance on the PC is that the game sometimes stores a massive replay file causing the F1 2012 to lag horribly.

To fix this, go to the replay file usually found in C:ProgramDataCodemastersF1 2012DataCacheAdministratorreplayreplay.pbf. If you can’t find it, just search for replay.pbf in Windows 7.
Once you found it, right-click the file, go to Properties, and set permissions to ‘Read only.’ You should notice better framerates afterwards.
An alternative workaround is change the default Rapture setting under Audio options to “Software”. This reduces usage of the replay file and will increase performance.
Another option is to tweak the settings in the hardware_settings_config xml file, which can be found in your save game directory. Turn down the shadow mask quality to 0.
Just in case you’re an Xbox 360 user, the solution is to delete the game from your HDD, and ‘Run the game from Disk’.

Problem #3 F1 2012 Crash Fix – F1 2012 Crashes right after pressing the ‘Play’ button

In Windows 7 go the F1 2012 installation folder, right-click the F1 2012 exe file, go to the ‘Compatibility Mode’ tab and check ‘Disable Desktop Composition.’ Then try running F1 2012 once more.

Problem #4 F1 2012 Launch Crash Fix – F1 2012 “Could not load image”

Go to the F1 2012 installation folder and look for the F1 2012 .exe file and run it directly from there, rather than using the shortcut or client link.

Problem #5 F1 2012 Crash Fix – F1 2012 Crashes on Intel HD Graphics Card

Hello, I have frame rate issues that where not there when I first started playing. i tried finding the replay but could not anywhere. I have the game through steam and i have a more than capable machine to run the game. I was running ultra graphics when i first started but since have had to drop my graphics to bare minimum and it still lags. It only runs about 45 fps and does not matter my settings, any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks Gage
