UPDATE #D: Arkham City – How to Change Language
There are two ways to change your language in Arkham City:
Change your location settings in your Win 7 Control Panel
-or-
Go to “UsersYOURNAMEDocumentsWB GamesBatman Arkham CityBmGameConfig”
Edit the “UserEngine.ini” file. Look for this line: “Language=”.
Just replace the three following letters by “ENG” if you want the original voices/texts.Just remember you’ll have to do that EACH time you’ll make a change in your settings.
UPDATE #E: Fix Arkham City Reverse Controls

If using a Logitech or other non Xbox360 controller you may experience reversed controls for moving forward and back. In order to adjust this correctly, find the file DefaultInput.ini in the Program Files>WB Games>Batman Arkham City>BM Game>Config, save a backup copy of the file (in case anything goes wrong) and open up DefaultInput.ini in wordpad or notepad and change the following line:

Problem #1 Batman Arkham City Crash Fix – For Quad Core PCs
- If you’re on Quad Core, try this fix to address any crash issues:
- Start the game
- Alt+Tab Out of the game
- Open Task Manager
- Right click on NFS The Run.exe
- Set Affinity
- Select core 0 and 1 only. You need to run the game on two CPU’s basically, so to avoid the crash to desktop.
Problem #2 Batman Arkham City Error Fix – “Feature Transfer Error”
Test the disc in another DVD drive or another PC if ever the same thing happens. If so, get a replacement from the retailer. If your disc works and installs the game elsewhere ok, it may be your DVD drive requires a firmware update to read the disc properly. Firmware updates must be available either from your PC or drive supplier. Take note that firmware updates are volatile so if your unsure how to do it, please contact your PC or Drive manufacturer’s support team for assistance.
Problem #3 Batman Arkham City Error Fix – Cannot Install, “Runtime Error”
- Lower the graphics settings
- Run on windowed mode
- Go to Problem #11 and run thru the fixes listed there
Problem #4 Batman Arkham City Sound / Audio Fix – No sound or weak sound
For Windows 7 and Vista users:
First of all, update your sound card drivers. If doing that doesn’t clear up the problem, make sure you have volume set to max for Batman Arkham City in the volume mixer (click on the little speaker icon in the bottom-right of your screen in the system tray). If you’re in-game, just alt+tab out of the game and check if Batman Arkham City is set to max in the volume mixer.
Another tip you could try is to go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Sound > Communications Tab then select the “Do Nothing” radio button to permanently fix this issue.
For Windows XP users:
Reduce hardware acceleration, or set your speakers to Stereo.
Problem #5 Batman Arkham City Error Fix – “Failed to initialize PhysX”
Check for any updates while connected to GFWL. The latest version will enable PhysX.
Problem #6 Batman Arkham City Camera Fix – Camera spins around really fast / Camera spinning problem
Unplug all USB devices from your computer except your mouse and keyboard. We are pertaining to joysticks, wheels, and any other gamepads or controllers.

I assumed similar minute correction must be required to fix the A,B and X,Y pad buttons

Those are the 4 binding scripts , all i did was replace A with letter B and X with Y and vice versa. That solved the ingame play. However the options still act retarded for that i am suggesting that further below you will find

in that there are binders for what a b does, maybe just switching the letters will fix the menu too. But i dont know what effects it will do ingame. Try that out , I cannot test that part , while i am writing this. For me its the game play correction thats more imp, That gets fixed in the first part
I seemed to do some mistake that led me finnaly to re install, no matter what i did the right joysticks up /down view did not work

Forget all of that nonsense above and make all of your lives easier with the xbox360 controller emulator. Basically, it tricks games that support ONLY the xbox360 controller for windows into thinking your *other* brand controller is one. You just have to remap all the keys on your controller to those of the xbox360 equivalents, and voila! I’ve been using this with DC Universe Online, Batman Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, Deus Ex Human Revolution to name a few with PS3 controller. Flawless!
I looked over all of these, and while very helpful considering the game came out today, I’d like to ask if you could look into the issue that a few people have been having, which is that the game crashes with an “Out of video memory” error after a few minutes of gameplay. I somehow made it all the way up through the very beginning of the game, but can’t go past the Penguin fight.

I have the same problem. I manage to get to the top of the ACE Chemicals building and when the batwing launches the pod with the batman suit on the roof it crashes with an “Out of video memory” error. It’s driving me insane, I can’t find any solution to this problem. Nobody seems to know how to fix this.
I couldn’t even get the game to the main menu, and I uninstalled the AMD Dual Core optimizer that the game installed for some odd reason (I’m running an Intel Core i5). The setup file is called “AMD_DCOptSetup.exe”. After removing it, the game runs without a hitch!
I have a slightly big issue… I installed perfectly, starts ok, but as soon I hit start game and the intro movie (or something) begins my computer just locks up (black screen?) and I can only reboot manually. I tried changing the PhysX thing, no avail. Downloaded latest BETA driver for Nvidia (using gtx570), also nothing. With disabling the PhysX my computer even crashed at the Nvidia screen before the main menu.
I have the exact same problem. During the intro, or if
I skip it right when Cat women speaks for the first time the game locks up. I tried ALL of the suggestions on here and it happens regardless.
The game also stays open in the background with a black screen and I cannot end task no matter what I do. Only turning off the computer will make the game close.
Same here. I “fixed” this by disabling the movies (rename them).
Until they patch that’s how i can play the game.

My problem is graphical in nature. The cutscenes look normal but the gameplay and menus have nasty red diagnoal lines in them. Running it in compatibility mode and toggling the various graphics settings didn’t change it at all. I can play it but the red lines make it too difficult. I ran Arkham Asylum with zero problems.

fgor changing language, i can confirm that updating regional setting works but on the other hand changing it in the game.ini ha no effect and is immediately set back to the region value on launcher start.
I get the out of video memory crash to after about 30 mins or so play funny because i put a gtx 560 in this pc and the game came free with it so meh lol

I’m using an xbox 360 controller with the game, and I can’t get object scan to work. In other words, I hold down the LB, so I can solve a puzzle, and nothing happens.
The game lets me go into detective mode by tapping the LB, but when I hold it down nothing happens.
Any ideas?
Justin Javan, after you switch into the detective mode you need to hold A while you are aiming at the object to scan. I believe the instructions given out at that moment is confusing as I tried the same by holding LB. Tap LB and then find the evidence and hold A.
I’m having the issue that the game crashes while saving. The fps is going down and then it crashes to dekstop with the message from Windows that it doesn’t work anymore. Please help if you can.
During the first sequence of the game, after Bruce Wayne is arrested, he is placed in a door with Jack Ryder and another prisoner. When I progress forward, inmates do not appear in the next sequence. Ryder goes down, it acts as if someone is beating him, but no prisoners. It also seems to be a small error in that the prisoners outside the fence are not there in the first place and end up almost “glitching in” show up immediately as I move forward. How to fix this? It is a serious problem and needs to be solved!

I solved this problem by increasing the graphic detail from the lowest to just one above it. After when the gates to the prison are opening I constantly paused the game until the inmates showed up and jumped over the fence…..Spread this info to others as this glitch is too annoying for other people not to know …THANKS

@Alex Pereira …I got my game to work…I just deleted the file AMD_DCOptSetup.exe in the setup folder of batman…
I also put my vsync on off mode….i dont knw what worked but now it is working flawlessly

- What can i do? I tried changeing the video settings to minimum. I tried reinstalling Windows live, .NET framework and directX.
Only thing i havent tried is reinstalling the game. How do i do that? Can it be done without having to download everything again???
Bit of a problem, I cant even get teh game to launch, AT ALL. It sits for maybe 10-15 seconds in the taskmanager, then WerFault.exe pops up and away the game goes. I dont get even get any crash reports or anything of that nature. The hell is going on?
I should add, I’ve done the usual routine stuff, like reinstalling updating drivers, turning down settings to minimum, the usuals.

Batman arkham city starts okay and works, but it does crash during gameplay and the voice in the i guess tv screens and such cuts constantly and sometimes the lipsync is slower than the voice of a some characters.

After I fought the first scene as catwoman and Bruce have held a speech on the podium and agents arrest him the game crashes to desktop everytime.

Hey I get a black screen and the game freezes after beating Ra’s al Ghul. I can still access WayneTech, and I can use the pause menu, but nothing happens. I have my graphics on the lowest settings. Any fixes?
If you’re on steam, right click on the game name, click properties, then local files and verify the cache (3rd button down) If that doesn’t work, try running it in a window and at the lowest resolution. You can switch back to your previous settings after you’ve reached the next save location.
This does not work for Games for windows version. Does anybody have a fix?
Tried different settings, nothing worked.
But then: I switched to the taskmanager and desktop during the cut scene several times. In the lower right corner appeared the text “Loading…” when I switched back to the game. This did the trick for me…

After you beat joker and become catwoman after going into the steel mill for the 2nd time, the game goes into an endless load.

I tried disabling the cutscenes by renaming movies and moviesstereo, and that’s worked for the rest of the game, it’s just now it has started doing this. I’ve verified the files, defragmented and restarted the computer. Basically everything bar a reinstall. Any ideas?
i got the same problem. i got lag in the cutscenes too…. those are two big problems. Another thing i dont have some textures like poison ivy face and some doors…

when i launch the bmlauncher.exe it comes out “bmlauncher has stopped working” same thing happen when I launch BatmanAC.exe also it comes out “Bmlauncher.exe has stopped working”…Anyone knows how to fix this? or at least lauch the game and bypass the Bmlauncher.exe? In part 20 in which batman has to fight with rashul gul …i particularly face problem in this level there are 2 phases in which we have to fight with him in both the phases i am able to defeat hi in the video mode when he threatens that if batman does not kill him then he would kill the girl talia after when video finishes batman does not perform any action i am unable to select any weapon batman does not move s from his place nor does he perform any action plz help me withthis probem

hey guys i have a problem over here. I installed the game and launch it everything is fine until the press start place. I simply dont get the press start button and cannot see the main menu. batman animation is playing behind and he is flying and fighting bad guys in stop motion but i cant see the press start logo anywhere.

just minimize the settings to minimum. resolution to minimum, al detalis to off or no or low. then, you can drop the sword and pick yer batterang. after that, just restore your settings.
Same problems than Kyle and ok, black screen after the steel mill i ear sounds during a few and after always black screen and nothing happens.. (I can go in the pause menu but no more reaction..)

So what u do is u go to “…\Batman Arkham City\BmGame\CookedPCConsole”, delete the file “Synopsis8_SF.upk” then u make a copy of “Synopsis0_SF.upk” and name it “Synopsis8_SF.upk”. That’s all, thank you for your attention.

I enabled the combo tutorial so it teaches me how to use the combo system when I’m in a fight.

I gotta problem which occured while playing the and it says to skip the cutscene or else your game will stop working, i tried skipping it, as i did previously, but there when i click, it says Loading… where as previously it had skipped.
This Occured when Batman was tied on wheel-chair Harley and joker Togerther scene…

Just go 2 da installed Folder”Batman Arkham City” dn enter “BmGame\MoviesStereo\” n delete the files “2_03_PT1.usm” n “2_03_PT2.usm”. Dis’ll delete da cutscene basically skippng through da “Batman was tied on wheel-chair Harley and joker Together” scene automaticaly so u wnt need 2 skip it manualy thus preventing da loading problem. Bt dnt delete dem permanently..jst keep em in recycle bin o move em 2 a diffrnt location cz dey contain other cutscenes wich u mite wana watch if u wana follow da story….i think…im nt sure…..HOPE DIS HELPS!!!

Install went fine and I am able to boot up and log into Games for Windows Live. When I hit the start button, it takes me to load a save file. I have not created one so I just click on a blank one to load. Then it gives the auto-save notice and when I hit continue, the game crashes…Every time.

I’ve run into the second game breaking glitch in Arkham City. First was after defeating Freeze and not getting the freeze blast (resolved by replayig 5 times). Now, after defeating Strange in Wonder Tower and the Ra’s Al Ghul death cutscene, I get a black screen. When I exit the game and re-enter, it drops me in the Bowery. Stop Protocol 10 has been completed but Strange is still alive in Wonder Tower and the Joker mission won’t trigger. If anyone knows away around this one, I’d love to hear it.

There’s always a disturbing Joker cutscene with no audio instead of the original cutscenes. There’s no slowing down or stuttering problem with game play and both audios and visuals are fine. But instead of the original cut-scenes, I keep getting a mute and low-res video of Joker with a green line showing up constantly under the video, which makes me think it’s a graphics card problem. Even though my card is old (GeForce GT230), the fact that the game runs smoothly and visuals are great point to another issue. The video will annoyingly keep appearing when every next original cut-scene should and the CrackFix or update won’t fix it. Any ideas that might help (except buying the original game of course!)? Thanks in advance.

try reducing the game graphics to lowest…turn all other graphical effects like anti anisialising n all to off opt…tc worked for me

FOR THE BATMAN WHEELCHAIR ERROR
Here’s the fix again for the infinite loading problem as well guys:
Take the files: 1_02 usm thru 2_03 PT2.usm out of the BmGame/MoviesStereo folder.
After this the game starts at the Ivy cutscene and you beat her goons then loads to Batman laying there after the wheelchair fall.
After you get past that part just put them back in the folder.
Do remember to wait for some time have patience.

First, let me start off by saying this is very long but I need your help. PLEASE!!
Hello. The other day my friend and I were playing Batman Arkham City when we visited the observation deck on the Wonder Tower. I pressed the grapple button and it grappled me to the top of the Wonder Tower where all of the fire and smoke was. Obivously, Batman wasn’t meant to be up there and I’m assuming the developers blocked it off because now I’m stuck underneath a pile of rocks and pipes. We were exploring up in the room and my friend made batman go over to the vent. We went in it and there was a blockade. We turned around, still in the vent, and all of the sudden the saving symbol popped up. So we played for a little bit longer and shut my Xbox 360 off. The next morning I went to play the game and I spawned underneath rocks and pipes. I’ve tried using all of the gadgets and grabbling, but nothing seems to work. In addition, I’ve shut the game down several times and restarted the game from the last check point.
Unfortunetly, nothing has helped and I have been stuck down here for days and I would really like to continue my adventure instead of being frozen. I can move in circles and look up and down but thats about it. Batman’s body is invisible, but a shadow is still casted.
I would really aprreciate it if you could some how figure out how I can get out of this trap. Please keep in contact with the email provided.

Hi, I may have found something to fix the no voice bug (i’v tried the “do nothing” tips, to udpade my audio drivers, etc … but nothing worked ) : i had the game in french, i go to gamefolder/BmGame/Localization & i deleted all folders exept “INT”, now i got the game in english but i got voices.
I also deleted lines about languages in a text file, but i can’t the file anymore, but i don’t think it’s relevent.

So im playing it and i finish the mission where hugo strange is dealt with and ra’s al ghul needs another trip to the lazarus pit if you know what i mean. after that, from what i see in walkthroughs on youtube, joker should contact me and i should have another mission, but he never does, and im just stuck there with no missions, and nothing to do.
Anyone had that problem and what am i supposed to do?

Just remove the files “1_02.usm” through to “2_03 PT2.usm” from the BmGame/MoviesStereo folder to your desktop . play the game and then if you like you replace put them back again . have a good play !

Hi Robin, like my other advice, try lowering your settings or going into windowed mode until you get past this part. see if that works.

Try lowering your settings or going into windowed mode just for that part, then once you get past it you can return to your normal graphics settings.

if you cant skip jokers cutscene,
go to “Batman Arkham City\BmGame” and cut these two folders named “MoviesStereo” and “Movies”. then play the game. you will probobly skip cutscene. when you skip, move two folders to the old location. its worked for me.

TWO POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS
-Go to My documents/Wb games/Batman Arkham City/SaveData/(folder with random number)
-Then you will find save0.sgd
-Copy and paste it in the same folder then rename the pasted one into save1.sgd
-Start batman you will see two saved files. Load any1 as both are same

So on my Batman Arkham City, everything looks fine when it comes to my game except right after the Intro Credits when Bruce Wayne is saying “I’m making a campaign to end Arkham.” But then suddenly, a window pops up saying “Troubleshoot trying to Solve the Problem. Batman Arkham City has stopped working.” (Or something to that tune). I spent $29.99 on this game and I would like to know why I can’t get through 5 minutes of the game. I have a Lenovo laptop that was bought within the last 2 months. I also have Windows 7 and my computer meets all of the Game Requirements.

What is “NFS The Run.exe” No such thing in task manager, but there is a batmanac.exe, why not change affinity on that if that solved crashes on quadcore systems ?
Oh, and if you do that to batmanac.exe it’ll lag like hell.
Her is how i fix for the poison ivy infinite load problem / game freeze in this video
After you reach the point before the black loading screen comes,just exit the game (alt+tab).
Go to, C:\Program Files\Batman Arkham City\BmGame
Here you will find a folder named “MoviesStereo”.
Change the name to “MoviesStero123″.
Play the game.
The loading screen should now skip right to the next scene where Batman is fallen on the ground.
Watch the cutscene.
Exit the game again (alt+tab) AFTER the cutscene is over.
Go to that BmGame folder and rename “MoviesStereo123″ to”MoviesStereo”.
Now play like a DAWG.
Note: You will have to repeat the entire procedure everytime u start a new game and reach that load screen.

After i throw the reverse batarang at ra’s a gul, the screen goes black and won’t load. I’ve tried deleting cut scenes, renaming the moviestereo folder, changing the screen resolution, and other random things but nothing works. Anyone got ideas??
if anyone has the following problem:
-you play the story and you turn off the game, when you click continue story, the file game is corrupted.
to resolve that, do this:
1-go to the installation folder(Batman Arkham city);
2-Enter Bmgame/Cookedpcconsole;
3-delete the file synopsis8_SF.upk;
4-copy the file synopsis1_SF.upk and rename the copy to synopsis8_SF.upk;
That should do the trick!

when batman needs to find antidote from mr. freeze (coldest point at gotham, you know that) there’s a crash if i go to the building where mr freeze stays. the game just crashed and i don’t know why (when battling with one handed axe user, still fine, no laggy etc)

I got Arkham City on PC and it worked just fine. It was having some problems but it was fine. Anyways, after beating the game as Batman, you get to control Catwoman. After I defeat Two-Face in the Museum there’s a small cutscene. After that it goes to a short loading screen and it crashes and shows me this message:

Couldn’t end the game with Catwoman (vs. Two-Face at the museum) so I decided to go with New Game Plus. And here is the thingie: I’m climbing the top of ACE Chemicals building at the beginning, I’m getting the Suit. Now Batman goes all about hacking TYGER frequency and… And that’s it. He doesn’t put the “whatever-sim-or-something-card” into his sequencer, and there is no “orange circle” on device’s screen…
I’ve restarted the game, restated computer, reinstalled the game, even uninstalled and installed again and… And nothing! What the heck? Funny thing is, that I can not get off that building in any way without killing myself (Batman doesn’t “see” grapling points, and even if he slides on cape he ends up dead).

Ok, so I have a MacBook Pro 15 inch, Intel i5 2.53 GhZ, NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M graphics processor with 256MB of GDDR3 memory, 4GB of RAM. Anyways, I bootcamped to Windows 7 64 Bit, downloaded Arkham City from Steam. Thus far the game experience has been working fine; little frame rate lag here and there.
The problem is from a specific level–I’m on the part of the game when Batman downloads the municipal access codes as he’s going after Mr. Freeze. I can download the codes fine, but when I try to decode the first box to get out of the room AS SOON AS the graphics display is supposed to pop up to decode, the game closes itself and I am brought back to my desktop. The mouse cursor disappears, the sound from the game plays, and all I can do is start task manager and quit the game.
I’m going to try adjusting the graphics settings to the minimal, but I wanted to post this and see if it could be anything else. Thank you!
