Problem #2 Alan Wake PC Flickering fix

Try forcing V-sync in D3DOverrider. If that doesn’t work, try forcing Triple Buffering as well. Let us know in the comments if this works for you.

Problem #3 Alan Wake PC Launch Crash Fix – Alan Wake PC “Could not load image”

Go to the Alan Wake PC installation folder and look for the Alan Wake PC .exe file and run it directly from there, rather than using the shortcut or client link.

Problem #4 Alan Wake PC Error Fix – Error message “Technical: DEVICE_CREATE_ERROR – Invalid Call Error”

If you get this message, you most likely have a problem with your GPU drivers. To fix this do a clean install of your GPU drivers. Refer to our driver tools in our Technical References page in order to do this.

Problem #5 Alan Wake PC Crash Fix – Alan Wake PC Crashes on Intel HD Graphics Card

Simply do a clean uninstall and reinstall of your Intel Graphics Driver. Check our Technical References page for proper and official downloads.

Problem #6 Alan Wake PC Bug Fix – Can’t Proceed To The Lighthouse

Simply restarting Steam should work. Or, worst case, restart your PC.

Problem #7 Alan Wake PC Command Line Options

Try these commands to tweak more advanced features and options in Alan Wake PC. You can use them in-game or through Steam.

  1. -w screen width (e.g. -w1280)
  2. -h (screen height) (e.g. -h720)
  3. -window (force windowed)
  4. -novsync (disables v-sync)
  5. -showfps (shows a frame rate counter on screen)
  6. -forcesurround (forces 5.1 speaker mode)
  7. -forcestereo forces stereo (2 channel) speaker mode
  8. -nosound (disables sound)
  9. -cleancloud (deletes your save games and settings for Alan Wake from Steam Cloud)
  10. -noblur (disables the in-game vector blur)
  11. -locale=xx (forces a selected locale)

Problem #8 Alan Wake PC Texture Fix – Bad Textures, Texture Breaks, Texture Glitch on gaming laptop

This is only for gaming laptops, but could work for some PCs. Note that this is an advanced solution, and only try this if other basic solutions such as disabling anti-aliasing and filtering failed for you. If your BIOS has the option, disable ‘Switchable Graphics’. This will remove your laptop PC’s ability to automatically switch between the onboard intel graphics card and the nVidia / ATI graphics chip, thus smoothening out gameplay.

    Hey
When I’m playing, I notice that building and road textures are completely black textures and that’s it.. also there are fences missing. I have an amd fx6100, 4gb ddr3 1333, radeon hd5830… it should basically run on high, the game also causes my computer to freeze, forcing me to restart the pc.

    @Dennis
Go to the Alan Wake folder, and find SKIDROW.ini
Change the last digit to any number (if I recall it’s 0, just change it)
    Worked for me.
